We have a list of carefully chosen Russian host families in St. Petersburg working for our school. All rooms are personally checked by staff and must meet strict criteria before being included in our database. Each participant is accommodated in a single room having all the necessary conditions for rest and study. Twin and Double Rooms are available on request. The price for accommodation includes two meals – breakfast and dinner.
All our host families have apartments in the center and not far from the school. Accommodation with a Russian family is integral part of the language learning experience. This is the most suitable variant for those who are willing to understand spoken Russian perfectly as members of the families know usually a little of a foreign language. Students may stay with their host for as little as one week.
All hosts have been selected for the quality of their homes, in particular the room you are going to say in, as well as their willingness to make an overseas visitor feel at home.
All rooms are single. By special arrangement we can also provide twin or double room. You will have access to the communal parts of the house or flat. You will also be given your own front door key.
The hosts are Russian native speakers and you will be expected to speak in Russian in the family home. Hosts also reflect the diverse nature of the population of St. Petersburg and you can for example select a host with or without children, or a retired host, who may have more time on their hands to interact with you. To enable you to develop your expertise in Russian, we will ensure there will be no other person in the house who speaks your language fluently.
We recommend accommodation in the host family with two meals/day, because otherwise you should loose your time every evening to find appropriate cafe. Here is just one kitchen-dining room in russian apartments, and it is an inconvenient situation when the host family will have dinner but you should wait in your room and then prepare something for yourself. Usually Russian women are not really happy when somebody use the family kitchen and manage a household. So half board is always included in the homestay and you’re welcome to the evening dinner together with other members of the host family
